The essentials
Terms & Privacy
The plain-English version of how Elements Tarot works and how your information is looked after. By booking or using this site you agree to the terms below.
Last updated: on publication. Please review these terms before booking — they may be updated from time to time, and the current version always lives on this page.
Terms of Service
About these terms
Elements Tarot is a tarot reading service run by Ellie (“I”, “me”). By using this website, booking a reading or buying a voucher you’re agreeing to these terms. If you don’t agree with them, please don’t use the service.
For guidance & entertainment
My readings are offered for guidance, reflection and entertainment. They are not a substitute for professional medical, legal, financial or psychological advice, and nothing in a reading should be taken as a prediction of a fixed future. You always retain your free will and full responsibility for your own choices, decisions and actions. Readings are for adults aged 18 and over.
Booking & payment
- Prices are shown on the site in pounds sterling (GBP) and are confirmed before you pay. There are no hidden charges.
- Payments are processed securely by a third-party payment provider. Your card details are handled entirely by them — I never see or store your full card information.
- A written reading begins once you’ve completed the questionnaire and payment is received. A live reading is confirmed once your chosen time slot is booked and paid for.
Live sessions
- Live readings take place over video at the time you book. You’ll receive a private joining link — please be ready a few minutes before we start.
- If you’re unable to attend, let me know as early as you can and I’ll do my best to rearrange. If you don’t attend and haven’t been in touch, I may not be able to offer a refund for that session.
Cancellations, rescheduling & refunds
- Need to move a live session? Get in touch as early as possible and I’ll offer the next suitable time.
- In line with my Code of Ethics, if I don’t meet the commitments set out there, or if at the time of the reading you’re dissatisfied with my knowledge of the cards or the way the session is delivered, I’ll refund your fee or arrange a suitable alternative.
- This does not extend to the content of a reading, which is my own intuitive interpretation, nor to a change of mind about the guidance received once a reading is complete.
Gift vouchers
Vouchers can be redeemed against readings up to their stated value and any expiry date. They can’t be exchanged for cash. If a voucher is only partly used, the balance remains available until it’s spent or expires.
Your conduct
I read for everyone with respect and compassion and ask for the same in return. I may decline or end a reading, without refund, if there is abusive behaviour, or if a request falls outside what I’m able or willing to read on (as set out in my Code of Ethics).
Intellectual property
The text, design, artwork and content on this site are mine (or used with permission) and may not be copied or reused without consent. Tarot card imagery is only ever shown where the rights allow it; where they don’t, a house illustration is used in its place.
Limitation of liability
Because readings are for guidance and you remain responsible for your own decisions, I can’t accept liability for choices you make or actions you take following a reading. Nothing in these terms limits any liability that can’t lawfully be limited — your statutory rights as a consumer are unaffected.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and any dispute will be subject to the courts of England and Wales.
Privacy Notice
Your privacy matters to me. This notice explains what personal information I collect, why, and the rights you have over it. I’m the data controller for the information you give me through this site.
What I collect
- Contact details — your name and email address when you book, order or get in touch.
- Booking & reading details — the service you choose, your appointment time, and the question and context you share in the reading questionnaire (which may include optional details such as pronouns or a birth date, and anything you ask me to avoid).
- Payment information — payments are handled by a third-party provider; I receive confirmation that a payment succeeded but not your full card details.
- Newsletter — if you sign up, your email address and the fact that you consented to hear from me.
- Technical basics — your light/dark theme choice is stored in your own browser, and I use only the cookies needed to keep the site and admin area working. I don’t use third-party advertising trackers.
How I use it, and my lawful basis
- To provide the reading or service you’ve asked for and to communicate with you about it — because it’s necessary to fulfil our agreement.
- To send you the newsletter — only with your consent, which you can withdraw at any time via the unsubscribe link in every email.
- To keep the site secure, keep proper records, and improve the service — as part of my legitimate interest in running it responsibly.
Who I share it with
I never sell your information. I share it only with the trusted providers needed to deliver the service — for example a payment processor to take payment, a video provider to host live sessions, and an email provider to send confirmations and, if you’ve opted in, the newsletter. Each handles your data under their own privacy terms. I may also disclose information if required by law.
How long I keep it
I keep your reading and booking records for as long as needed to provide the service and to meet legal and accounting obligations, then delete or anonymise them. Written readings remain available to you through your private link as a keepsake; let me know if you’d like yours removed.
Keeping it safe
Your details are stored securely, sensitive tokens are stored only in hashed form, and access is limited to me. No system is ever perfectly secure, but I take reasonable steps to protect your information.
Your rights
Under UK data protection law you have the right to access the information I hold about you, to have it corrected or deleted, to restrict or object to how it’s used, to ask for a copy to reuse elsewhere, and to withdraw consent at any time. To exercise any of these, just contact me. If you’re unhappy with how I’ve handled your data you can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
Children
This service is for adults aged 18 and over, and I don’t knowingly collect information from children.
Changes & contact
I may update this notice from time to time; the current version always lives here. For anything about your data or these terms, please get in touch.
